MeSU-beta is a SGI ICE-XA server (SGI presentation), which has the particularity of being a distributed cluster. It is made of 3012 high performance computing cores, distributed in 144 nodes of 24 cores, and is associated with a fast storage system based on a Lustre filesystem. MeSU-beta also has the particularity of being an extremly energy efficient server, and is equipped with a warm-water cooling distribution unit (CDU), capable of cooling up to 305 kW.

MeSU-alpha is equipped with 144 computes blades, each of which made of one motherboard (or node), equipped with two Intel Xeon (Sandy Bridge) of 12 cores each, and with a local memory of 128Gb. The nodes are connected by an Infiniband system, which allows for fast communication between them.

Front-end / login node

1 front-end server, also called login node, allow users to install, compile and launch their jobs on the ICE XA server.
This server is equipped with 1 Intel Xeon (Sandy Bridge) with 12 cores, 128 GB of ram memory and 600GB of hard drive storage.

Rack leader and admin node

This server, called the management server, allows the system administrator to manage MeSU-beta resources, perform maintenance operations and hosts the software images for the compute nodes..
